Cancellation of the 2020 Corn Boil
The decision to cancel this year's Firefighters Association Corn Boil event was not an easy one to make. We wish we could put on another great Corn Boil like, the one we had last year. But due to the social distancing guidelines, we do not know how long they will be in place for, we would not be able to hold this event. Another big reason for this cancellation is our event is funded mainly by donations we receive by area businesses, the city of South Beloit, and other private donors. We cannot ask these businesses and private donors for donations after everything they have gone through recently. We do fully intend on holding the Corn Boil again in August 2021. We want to thank all the businesses and everyone that have shown us support over these past few months.
Money raised at this event will go to the South Beloit Firefighter's Association where it will be used for purposes such as: training, funding the building of our new training facility, and equipment purchases for the fire department. In the past the money has also been donated to various local organizations.
