Part-Time Employment







The life of a firefighter is hard work, long hours, and sacrifice. The decision to take on such a role should not be taken lightly. We here at the South Beloit Fire Department are dedicated to providing the best service to the citizens of the City of South Beloit and the surrounding areas. It is with that mission in mind that we employ the best candidates available and hold our personnel to high standards with emphasis on training and certification programs.




Requirements To Become a Part-Time Firefighter

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must hold a Valid Driver's License 
  • No Felony Convictions or Disqualifying Criminal Activity
  • Must Reside within 7 miles of the fire station (exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Fire Chief)
  • OSFM Basic Firefighter Certification within 12 months of hire
  • IDPH EMT-Basic license within 24 months of hire

Once the application is received you will be contacted to come in and job shadow and attend the department's weekly Wednesday night training. There will also be an interview process and physical agility test.
